Appointments to Outside Bodies

Report of the Assistant Chief Executive (Legal and Democratic Services)

1.0	Purpose of the Report
1.1	To enable appointments to Committees and Outside Bodies to be considered.

2.0       North Yorkshire County Council Corporate Parenting Members’ Group

2.1       There is currently a vacancy on the Council’s Corporate Parenting Members’ Group.  It is proposed that County Councillor Heather Philips be appointed to this role in her capacity as the Vice Chair of the Young People’s Overview and Scrutiny Committee.

2.2       The Corporate Parenting Members’ Group is a cross-party, non-decision making member working group responsible for supporting the Executive, and the Council as a whole, in its role as corporate parent.  The Constitution states that the Corporate Parenting Members’ Group will comprise between five and ten members, appointed by the Executive, and may include members and co-opted members from the Young People Overview and Scrutiny Committee.

2.3        Detailed information in respect of each outside body, including the following, is available to Members on request to Democratic Services:-

• Purpose of outside body

• Meetings – frequency per year; venue; time of day/evening meetings held

• Recent Minutes

3.0	Recommendation
3.1	That the Executive appoint County Councillor Heather Philips to the Council’s Corporate Parenting Members’ Group.
